Only Tinubu, Wike Understand Real Politics In Nigeria – SAN

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo, has described President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, as the only two politicians who understand the game of politics in Nigeria.

Adebayo made the statement during a television interview while discussing political strategies, alliances and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, Tinubu and Wike stand out because of their understanding of political calculations, strategic alliances and the practical realities of electoral contests.

The legal practitioner also criticised expectations of some All Progressives Congress, APC, governors, noting that many appeared to be seeking easy routes to electoral victories instead of building the necessary political support.

He explained that some politicians expected Wike to transfer his political influence and supporters to candidates in their states without adequately considering local political dynamics and voters’ preferences.

Adebayo added that Wike expects political stakeholders to mobilise their supporters and loyalists to back designated candidates, stressing the importance of practical cooperation and grassroots mobilisation in achieving electoral success.

“Looking at our democratic experience, we have two real politicians, the President himself and Minister Wike. Over time, they have demonstrated that they understand the game of politics. The APC governors are looking for an easy route to victory, but that is not possible. All Minister Wike wants from them is to mobilise their supporters and loyalists to back their candidates in their respective states,” he said.

His comments come amid growing political realignments and coalition discussions ahead of the 2027 elections.
