The Ogun State Police Command has begun an investigation into a viral report alleging that skit maker and social media influencer, Samuel Perry, was shot in the Sango-Ota area of the state.

Reports circulating on Friday claimed that the incident occurred last Sunday afternoon while the comedian was recording a new comedy project under the popular Sango-Ota bridge.

Following the viral report, the comedian’s management has not responded to calls or released any official statement regarding the alleged incident, as concerns continue to grow among fans and the public over his safety.

A check on his official Instagram page earlier showed that Broda Shaggi had shared a comic post about craving moin-moin, Titus fish, and yellow pap.

While uncertainty still surrounds the circumstances of the alleged incident, an online report quoted a police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, as saying that the skit maker sustained a gunshot injury during the encounter.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the command could not confirm that the incident occurred within the state.

“Good afternoon, brethren. For the sake of clarity, the Command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggi was shot anywhere within Ogun State,” Babaseyi said in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.

He also urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information, noting that the police had commenced an investigation into the matter.

“Investigation into the matter has, however, commenced. Members of the public are kindly advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to run its course,” he added.
