Obaseki’s aide clarifies on disappearance of Ex-governor in Political scene

A former Commissioner of Edo State, Mr. Chris Nehikhare said the

immediate past governor of the State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has not been seen much often in order to give the incumbent governor the opportunity to prove his worth to the people of the State.

‎Nehikhare who is also the immediate past spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the clarification on Tuesday, following claims in some quarters that Obaseki was in the run.

‎He explained that Obaseki is willing to appear when invited by any of the anti-graft agencies to answer any questions if any.

‎Nehikhare noted: “Obaseki is doing his fellowship in a foreign university and there is a government in place in Edo, and his performance is not comparable to Okpebholo’s work now.

‎”Governor Obaseki is not coming back to Benin to run for Senate or any other position like other past governors. He has severed at the highest level of governance in Edo and it is that honour he would continue to maintain.”

‎Nehikhare who also formerly introduced his successor, Barr. Dan Ogbegie to
‎ journalists in Benin City, added that the Obaseki administration constructed 1300 km of roads across the State between 2016 and 2024.

‎On the part of the new Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Dan Ogbegie, flayed the Governor Monday Okpebholo’s construction of the Benin flyover at the Ramat Park axis, Ikpoba Hill, declaring that it was necessary.

‎He explained that roads in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), should have been prioritised.

‎According to him, “Today, how many of us can travel to Abuja on the road using Auchi road? if government is able to revamp the security architecture of Edo state, then there will be relative security,” he said.
