Defending champions Portugal will begin their UEFA Nations League title defence today when they host Wales in Lisbon, while Germany and the Netherlands will meet in another major opening-day clash.
Portugal return to the competition after winning the title in 2025 and will face a Wales side that secured promotion to League A during the last Nations League cycle.
The match will also mark Jorge Jesus’ first Nations League game in charge of Portugal following his appointment as head coach after the country’s World Cup exit. Cristiano Ronaldo remains part of the Portugal squad despite his age, with the 41-year-old included in Jesus’ first squad.
He will be looking to add to his record 146 international goals when Portugal face Wales at the Estadio Jose Alvalade. Germany will take on the Netherlands in another high-profile encounter today as both teams begin life under new coaches. Germany have appointed Jurgen Klopp, while the Netherlands are now under former Barcelona boss Xavi.
