Man  beaten to death in Edo over alleged motorcycle theft

An unidentified man has been lynched to death by mob over allegation that he stole an unregistered motorcycle.

The incident reportedly occurred at Iyanamo community, near Army Barracks, Ekehuan road in Benin City, Edo state capital.

 

However, four persons allegedly linked to the death of the deceased have been arrested and are assisting the Police in their investigation.

The four suspects arrested are Matthew Gimba, 39, Monday Nathaniel, 30, Gabriel Akuba, 20, and Emmanuel Igube, 19

Spokesman of the State Police Command, SP. Nwabuzor disclosed this in a statement he issued on Monday.

Nwabuzor quoted the State Commissioner of police, Mohammed A. Dankwara, as “decrying the incessant cases of jungle justice in the State and therefore implores citizens to repose a more confidence in the Rule of Law and in the Law enforcement institutions”.
