Kebbi Gov. Idris Tasks Corp Members on Creativity, Innovation for National Dev.

Kebbi state governor Dr. Nasir Idris has urged corp members posted to the state to utilize the experience garnered in the orientation camp on creativity and innovation for the development of the nation.

Idris spoke  on Friday at the swearing-in and formal commencement of the 2023 Batch B Stream in the state,where he declared the Orientation camp opened.

The governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Barr. Attahiru Maccido in his speech delivered at the event which was obtained by Newsherethere noted that the occasion was his administration’s first NYSC function since assumption of office as Governor of the State.

“This occasion marks a new beginning for our young creative, innovative, and promising graduates drawn from various social-cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

“. I congratulate you all for the successful completion of your various academic endeavours which have qualified you to be mobilised for national service and contribute to national development.

“And so on behalf of the good people of Kebbi State, I warmly welcome you all to Kebbi State the Land of Equity. Be assured that you will enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the entire people of the state throughout your service year.

” The National Youth Service Corps has remained a beacon of hope for the nation’s development, it has enlightened graduate Youths who before the inception of the scheme were strangers to the diverse culture and traditions of other parts of the nation.

” The Orientation programme has been put together to discipline, prepare, and equip you morally and physically for the challenges of service to nation-building. To this effect, it is pertinent that you avail yourselves of all activities of the Orientation course.”

The governor enjoined the corp members “to take every segment of the Orientation course seriously and utilize the benefits of the lectures given to you while on camp as it will enhance your performance to impact positively on your host communities. I enjoin you to bring out your innate talents and also acquire more through the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship training.”

 

He gave the assurance that his administration will continue to build on the performance of his predecessor.

“Kebbi State is peaceful however, I have also directed various security agencies in the state to ensure adequate security measures are put in place. I hereby urge you to be law-abiding citizens and partner with Kebbi State to create a secure environment”.

He commended the NYSC State Governing Board and all stakeholders for their dedication and commitment in ensuring that the Orientation course achieves the objectives of the national service.

The governor also lauded the management of the NYSC for their resolved determination at guiding the youths.

“On this note, I formally declare the 2023 Batch A Stream I Orientation camp open. I wish you Allah’s guidance and protection.”

Earlier in her welcome address the NYSC Coordinator in the state,Mrs Okolo Agatha Banki appreciated the state governor Idris for
honouring the invitation amidst his tight schedules and appealed on solutions to challenges facing the scheme.

“Your Excellency Sir, I humbly wish to make a passionate appeal as I bring to your notice, the Orientation Camp challenges and solicit your intervention in the following areas, the completion of male hotel 4 for Corps Members as this will increase the capacity of Corps Members the Orientation Camp can host. Also, the provision of additional Staff quarters as the Staff population has increased, causing a shortage in accommodation, and an increase of the low perimeter fence for security reasons. Your Excellency, we look forward to your administration’s kind consideration and response.

” To our host, Lamido Dakingari, Alh Jafaru Halliru, Local Government Chairmen here present, and all our collaborating agencies, your unmitigated support has no doubt contributed to the success of our Orientation Courses.

“. My dear Corps Members I urge you to uphold a high sense of discipline, tolerance and proper understanding of the essence of the Orientation Course. I therefore challenge you to work towards distinguishing yourselves for Honours Awards right from the Camp, by actively contributing your quota to the success of the Orientation Course.
