IWD: NAWOJ Calls for Accelerated Action on Gender Equality

The Ekiti State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has joined the global community to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD).

The NAWOJ Chairperson Mrs Adewumi Ademiju in a statement signed by the Secretary Mrs Funmi Falae called on individuals, organizations, and governments to take accelerated action to achieve gender equality and empower women and girls.

According to Ademiju, “As women journalists, we are committed to using our platforms to amplify the voices of women and girls, and to hold leaders accountable for their promises to promote gender equality.”

The association also stressed the need for increased representation of women in leadership positions, equal pay for equal work, and an end to all forms of violence against women and girls.

NAWOJ Ekiti called on the State Government to implement policies and programs that promote gender equality and empower women and girls, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
