IWD 2026: NAWOJ Ekiti Advocates Culture of Giving Among Women

 

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ekiti State Chapter, has called on women to embrace a culture of giving, mentorship, and support for one another as a pathway to personal and collective advancement.

The Chairperson of NAWOJ ,Adewumi Ademiju in a press statement to mark this year’s International Women’s Day which was signed by tthe Secretary, Funmi Falae, stated that the theme “Give to Gain” underscores the importance of selflessness and collaboration among women.

Ademiju noted that the theme highlights the value of mentorship, generosity, and community support, stressing that meaningful progress can be achieved when women deliberately invest in the growth and success of others.

The association added that “giving, whether through knowledge sharing, mentorship, encouragement, or opportunities, creates a ripple effect that ultimately benefits individuals, families, and society at large.”

NAWOJ Ekiti commended women in the state and across the country for their” resilience, dedication, and contributions to national development despite various challenges”. It also urged women journalists to continue using their platforms to advocate for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

The statement further called on governments, organisations, and other stakeholders to create more opportunities for women in areas such as education, leadership, and economic empowerment, while encouraging women to remain united and supportive of one another.
