….as women, youths also benefit Gesture

A member representing Isoko North and South federal constituency Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko says he will commence payment of N5,000 monthly to 240 aged indigent constituents for the next 4 years.

The lawmaker said the efforts is aimed at cushioning hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

A statement made available to Blueprint revealed that the financial assistance will cover 24 federal wards in the constituency.
Hon. Ukodhiko also said as a way of bridging the financial gap and easing the hardship, he has lined up different training and empowerment programmes for the youth and women to tackle unemployment in the constituency

He said: “I am aware times are hard due to the nation’s faltering economy, and I am also aware that the State Government, led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the Federal Government are doing everything humanly possible to assuage the suffering of Deltans and Nigerians.

“In light of the present economic reality, as your representative, in addition to those we have put in our monthly payroll as a way of alleviation, I have decided to offer a Monthly Revolving Financial Assistance Scheme to some of our less privileged households in the 24 Federal Wards in Isoko North/South Federal Constituency, which will see us pay N5,000 monthly to 240 aged indigent constituents for the next 4 years, with the first batch of payments starting this week for February.

“As a way of bridging the financial gap and easing the hardship, we have also lined up different training and empowerment programmes for our youths and women this year that will help reduce unemployment in Isoko, and these programmes will soon kick off.”

Meanwhile, an Abuja based business man and an indigene of Emevor in Isoko North LGA, Bright Umukoro, lauded Hon. Ukodhiko for the initiative.

“He is a man imbued with integrity, intellect and tenacity of purpose to touch lives and is committed to improving the lives of his constituents, “he said.
