Guber Poll: Ekiti Youth Planning 10,000-Man March for Oyebanji- Adedayo

To reciprocate his policies that have benefitted the productive population, the Youth of Ekiti State are planning a 10,000-man march to mobilise support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Adesola Gold Adedayo, gave the disclosure in Ado Ekiti, on Tuesday, while featuring on a programme tagged “Se E ti Gbo” aired by some electronic media houses based in Ekiti State.

Adedayo, who is the coordinator of APC electric registration exercise in the state, said the Ekiti youth constitute 70 percent on the statistics declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Voter Registration List.

He branded youth population as strategic partners that can bolster the electoral fortunes of any party in the state, saying the governor has done marvelously well for them and deserved their support.

Underscoring the pivotality of the match to the electoral success of the governor, Adedayo posited that the youth are enthusiastic to return the governor to the saddle of governance on account of his performance and youth centric policies.

Adedayo advised the youth not to limit their electoral importance and visibility to social media platforms only, urging them to endeavour to collect their voter cards and vote massively in the poll.

“Ekiti Youth are planning a 10,000-man match for the governor that will be held very soon. They are pleased with the governor’s youth centric policies. Look at the farm settlements and dormitories built for commercial farming in Ekiti. In fact, those areas are now suburbans being used by youth to better their lives.

“Last year December, the youth farmers shared a dividend of N1 billion. You could imagine the effect this will have on our economy. This is besides series of empowerments for our youth and those living with disabilities among them.

“This government runs a free education policy for our poor children and today, nobody can drop out of primary and secondary schools on account of lack of financial strength.

“It is on this premise that the youth are planning this 10,000- man match to mobilise support for Governor Oyebanji, a lover and promoter of youth.

“To be able to reelect the governor , they should go and get their voter cards. Though they were active on the social media promoting the governor, but INEC won’t count votes on social media platforms. They should get their cards and work hard to deliver the governor”.

On why Oyebanji remains the best among other contenders, Adedayo averred that the governor’s imprints have been felt by Ekiti people in the area of road Infrastructure, agriculture, sports, youth development, labour relations, security and arts and culture.

Adedayo stated that Oyebanji’s second term will give room for economic and political consolidation, which will further bolster the economic prosperity of the people.

He said: “People used to say that the devil you have known for long is better than an angel you are still expecting. But Oyebanji is an angel we have known for a long time, so we must keep him. He is angel God has sent to us at this time. That is why Ekiti is at peace with the government at this time”.

On the strong cord of relationship between Ekiti and the federal government, Adedayo saluted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for setting Nigeria on a faster pace of economic prosperity and recovery, and for lending support to Governor Biodun Oyebanji to be able to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.

The commissioner said even Governor Oyebanji has at various times acknowledged the fact that Tinubu led Government has done exceedingly well for the state in terms of attraction of federal presence to the state, urging the citizens to continually pray for the success of his administration.

On the ongoing APC electronic registration of members, Adedayo said the programme was conceptualised to shore up the grassroots support base for the party ahead of 2026 and 2027 general elections.
