In it’s part of effort to celebrate the girl child as being done globally on International Day of Girl Child, the Ekiti state Tennis Center has expressed it’s readiness to open Female Tennis Championship in the State.
A press statement by the Media Tennis Center and signed by Qozeem Oladapo stated that the Ekiti state Tennis Center would go agog on Thursday,21st October as the Open Tennis Female Championship gets underway.
“The three day event which is organised by Sebi Foundation in collaboration with Yetade Tennis Academy and the Nigeria Tennis Federation will feature female tennis players from across the state.
“The newly elected International Representative on the Board of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Mr Yemi Owoseni said the Open Female Tennis Championship is dedicated to the Girl Child with a view to helping them to showcase their sporting potentials”
Owoseni added that “Ekiti state has always had quite a lot of talented females starting from the days of former African number runner, Damola Oshayomi and Bukola Abogunloko among others adding that some rising female tennis players with great potentials are also being groomed”
Mr Owoseni stated that “the Open Female Tennis Championship was another way to key into the laudable efforts of the wife of Ekiti state governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi towards protecting and projecting the interest of the girl child.”
