FUOYE inaugurates 5th V.C ,as scholar tasks Leadership to rise against academic indiscipline

The Federal University of Oye Ekiti, FUOYE, on Wednesday inaugurated the 5th Vice Chancellor, VC ,Prof. Joshua Ogunwole.

The New VC in his acceptance speech cautioned against acts of indiscipline in the university system and tasked the leadership on concerted efforts to maintain ethical standards.

He charged against inconsistency and confrontational acts such as verbal aggression ,disregards for constitutional authority in the institution and any other behaviors that can undermine the school authority.

Prof. Ogunwole stressed that indiscipline and any form of misdemeanor would not be tolerated.

He stressed on the importance of value and legacy as critical to moral renewal to achieve legacy of faith, hope and confidence in God and humanity.

He promised reforms in FUOYE, hammered on the need for comprehensive and well-coordinated reforms, in structures, system,and institutional culture.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, represented by Hajiya Nafisa Aminu, appealed to all staff , students and the unions “to work harmoniously with the new Vice Chancellor in the interest of a stable and peaceful academic environment.”

Sen. Ndoma-Egba, said the institution must continue to uphold excellence in teaching, research and community service, while supporting the staff and students to realize their full potential.

“We must embrace digital transformation, Foster creativity and strengthen research that address both local and global challenges”.

In his inauguration lecture, former Vice Chancellor, University of Indian, Prof. Abel Olayinka, on leading change, urged the new V.C. to provide leadership in uplifting the growth of the university.

Prof. Olayinka, said “the VC should prepare to be misunderstood, misrepresented and maliciously maligned for political gains by others because of numbers of conspiracy theories”.

In his goodwill speech, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, wished the new V.C. God’s guidance in his vision to accomplished his mission in the institution.

The inauguration was graced by people from all walks of life including traditional rulers, religious leaders such as Most Rev. Felix Ajakaye among others.
