FUOYE Commences 8th Convocation ceremony on Monday Feb 5

…Honours MOB, Adeola, Gagbi, others

Akpabio is special guest of honour…as JAMB registrar, Oloyede presents Convocation lecture

 

The  Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), will commence her 8th Convocation ceremony from February 5, 2024.

The University shall be playing host to the number three man in Nigeria, Senate President Godswill Akpabio as the Special Guest of honour, while Majority Leader of the Senate, Sen. Micheal OPEYEMI Bamidele (MOB), Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Sen. Solomon Adeola Yayi and Chairman, House Committee on Navy, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, PhD shall be conferred with honoris causa of the University while several deserving and distinguished Nigerians would also be garlanded in recognition of their sterling contributions towards adding values to the country and humanity.

The major highlights of the weeklong ceremony include a Press Conference, free health care services to some communities, commissioning of infrastructural projects, awards of degrees up to the doctoral level and award of honorary degrees as well as recognition awards to notable individuals for their meritorious services to the nation and humanity.

According to the statement from the chairman, University Ceremonies Committee, Prof. Tajudeen Opoola , the 8th convocation ceremony will kick start on Monday, February 5, 2024 with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina’s press conference with all media representatives invited, same day the exhibition of products and services by each faculty will start and run till the final day of the programme and Free healthcare services to be offered by the University medical Centre’s team, led by Dr. Olawale Musbau.

The following day is dedicated to Free health care services for the Oye Ekiti Community, Commissioning of projects at Oye Campus, the projects include Faculty of Law Complex, Faculty of Arts Lecture Theatre, New Medical Students Hostel, University Staff School, Centre for Mathematical Modeling, 500KVA Power Generating house, Solar Light project, and the Alumni Building.

On the third day, Wednesday, 7th February, there will be a repeat of Free health care services for the Ikole-Ekiti Community
and the Commissioning of Projects at the Ikole campus. The projects include 32 Rooms Professorial Office building, and New University Library. An official Induction of Engineering students will round up the activities for the third day.

The ceremony continues till Thursday, 8th February with a repeat of Free health care services for the Ayegbaju Ekiti Community
, which would be followed by the University Founder’s Day speech, to be delivered by Prof. Adenike Temidayo Oladiji (Vice-Chancellor, FUTA) and a grand Convocation cocktail as well as Command performance by the students of the department of Theatre and Media Arts of the University.

On Friday, 9th February 2024, a Jumat service to herald the Convocation ceremony would be held as the University Mosque . This would be followed by the Vice-Chancellor’s Award of Excellence to deserving staff members and worthy individuals. A N50 billion Endowment Fund Raising and Meritorious Awards would also feature on Friday.

The Convocation ceremony’s grand finale holds on Saturday, 10th February 2024 from 11am with a Convocation lecture, to be delivered by Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) which would immediately be followed by Convocation ceremony/Award of degrees.

On Sunday, 11th February 2024, a Thanksgiving service at the University Chapel will be held as concluding part of the ceremony.
