Endorsement: You Can’t Secure Ticket Through back Channel, Faparusi Tells Senatorial Aspirants

The campaign structure of a former member of the House of Representatives and All Progressives Congress senatorial aspirant in Ekiti South Senatorial District, Hon Bamidele Faparusi, has rejected the purported endorsement of an aspirant by an unauthorized section of the party.

Faparusi insisted that conduct of primary becomes non-negotiable in APC for internal cohesion and checkmating of unnecessary centrifugal forces that could rip the party apart, and in firm sync with the position maintained by the frontline leaders of the party.

The rejection was contained in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Fappy Movement for Senate, Yinka Adeleye and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, on Friday.

The statement must have been prompted by a swirling news that filtered out on Thursday, claiming that the current occupant of the seat, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, had been endorsed for reelection.

Puncturing such claim, the campaign movement stated that those peddling such rumour, and who were embarking on underhand tactics to ram down endorsement, were enemies of the party.

The movement branded the proponents of such invidious moves as promoters of hate and disrespect to party leaders, who had earlier affirmed open primary, where consensus becomes impracticable.

It rued and blatantly opposed attempt by anyone to armtwist the people, and hold democratic tenets by jugular through baseless and spurious sponsorship of deceptive endorsement to asphyxiate the system and throw the APC into confusion.

The campaign organisation warned the party members to refrain from actions that could trigger unwarranted litigations in APC, capable of robbing the party of victory after winning election as harrowingly experienced in Zamfara and Rivers States in 2019.

The movement urged aspirants who detest , or perhaps, afraid of open primary and test of popularity, to bow out of the race honourably, instead of creating frenzied atmosphere that could get the party entangled in litigation and crisis.

“The attention of the Fappy Movement to the Senate has been drawn to a purported “endorsement” exercise carried out by a few individuals within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ekiti South Senatorial District.

“This act, clearly orchestrated by self-serving elements, represents a calculated attempt to impose mediocrity, promote deception, and sustain poor representation against the collective will of the people. Such actions are not only undemocratic but also a direct affront to the principles upon which our great party is founded.

“We state unequivocally that this so-called endorsement is illegitimate, null, and void. It should be completely disregarded by all party faithful and the good people of Ekiti South. Democracy demands that the people must be allowed to freely choose their representatives in the National Assembly—without coercion, manipulation, or imposition.

“Ekiti South cannot continue to be defined by underperformance and visible apathy in representation. The people deserve responsive, accountable, and people-oriented leadership that reflects their aspirations—not recycled failure imposed through backdoor arrangements.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the amended Electoral Act recognizes only direct primaries or consensus candidacy reached through transparent, inclusive, and collective agreement by all stakeholders. Any attempt to misrepresent a selective endorsement as consensus is both misleading and a gross misinterpretation of the law.

“We therefore call on all APC members and stakeholders in Ekiti South to remain vigilant and reject any arrangement that undermines internal democracy. The will of the people must prevail above the interests of a privileged few.

“We also urge party leaders at all levels to immediately put an end to these undemocratic practices before they degenerate into avoidable conflict. The unity and integrity of our party must not be sacrificed on the altar of personal ambition.

“Let democracy breathe. Let the people decide”, the movement stressed .
