Electricity: Monarch Urges BEDC to provide Meters for Ease of Payment

 

The Alawe of Alawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, AFUNTADE 1,has urged the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to provide electricity meters to its willing customers in Ilawe Ekiti and other surrounding towns in Ekiti to ease payment of bills as well as check quacks parading themselves as staff from duping the people and the company.

 

The Oba made the appeal when the staff of the BEDC in Ekiti led by their Regional Manager,Mr Sunday Ofiebor visited the Alawe in his palace at Ilawe Ekiti on Thursday,2/2/2023.

Oba Alabi in a press statement by  the Media Adviser, High Chief Ajibade Olubunmi noted that the estimated billing system currently in use by the company has become outdated and needed to be eradicated stressing that the provision of meters will ease payment by the people and generate funds for the company.

Alawe who was at the meeting with quarter heads of the town, promised the cooperation of the people of Ilawe Ekiti to promptly pay their bills but asked for steady supply of electricity to justify the payment.

The Regional Manager of the BEDC ,Mr.Ofiebor urged the Alawe “to help in building cordial relationship between the company and Ilawe people”stressing that the management “would get rid of anybody caught being unprofessional in the performance of his or her duties”

He promised to involve the quarter Chiefs in capturing other members of the community who are yet to be on the company’s billing system as well as having constant communication with the chiefs on steps taken on tariff payment and other matters in order to sustain the existing cordial relationship.

Mr Ofiebor expressed gratitude to the Alawe for allowing the meeting to hold.
