EKSU VICE CHANCELLOR PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR BIODUN ABAYOMI OYEBANJI ON THE FORTHCOMING GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION

 


The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU) Ado Ekiti, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele has pledged his continuous support to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration, even as the state’s gubernatorial election comes up this weekend.

Speaking during the special visit of the wife of the governor to the university, the Vice Chancellor commended the governor for his various giant strides in Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.
Specifically the Vice Chancellor commended the governor’s ingenuity of increasing the monthly subvention to the university, twice, within three years. He noted that this uncommon gesture had assisted his administration to defray all arrears of staff salaries and instrumental to the improvement on the basic infrastructures in the university.

Professor Ayodele, who described the governor and his wife as part and parcel of the university explained that the recently commissioned ICT Experience Centre by the wife of the president, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON was facilitated by Her Excellency Dr Olayemi Oyebanji .

He further stated that the present stable academic calendar being enjoyed in the university in the last two years is as a result of the governor’s positive intervention(s) at every point of need.

“Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has been coming to teach in our faculty of education ‘pro bono’ in the last few years as part of her effort in contributing to scholarship as well as deepening the fountain of knowledge.”

He continued by saying that her pet project, WAOH has also awarded scholarship to over 30 indigent students in the Institution, a development that has been unprecedented.

The Vice Chancellor reminded the audience that Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, in his magnanimity, appointed Dr Tunji Olowolafe, a unique and outstanding personality as Chancellor of EKSU. An appointment, many have described as the best in the annals of the University.

The Vice Chancellor, however, pledged the support of EKSU community to Governor Oyebanji in the forthcoming governorship election, scheduled to hold on Saturday. He used the opportunity to appeal to all and sundry in the university to come out en masse to exercise their civic responsibilities as he maintained that continuity is key to the progress of Ekiti state.

Speaking at the event, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji stressed the need for stronger collaboration among government, educational institutions and community leaders in promoting sustainable development and improving the welfare of citizens.

The Governor’s wife highlighted the achievements of the Biodun Oyebanji administration, noting that the government had remained committed to people-oriented programmes and policies that have positively impacted lives across the state.

She specifically spoke on her Widows, Aged and Orphans Hope (WAOH) Empowerment Project, an initiative that provides support programmes designed to improve livelihood and foster economic growth among vulnerable groups.

Dr Oyebanji enumerated several interventions facilitated through the Federal Government and implemented by the state administration, including scholarship opportunities for students, prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, as well as the execution of numerous infrastructural projects across the state.
She concluded by saying that the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji administration’s commitment to good governance is an enough justification for all to support Governor Oyebanji’s bid for a second term in office.
