
Ekiti State Government has reiterated its commitment to continue to invest in capacity building, strengthens support system and provide an enabling environment for all Council Officials to excel.

The State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro said this while declaring open a 3-day workshop organized for LG/LCDAs Vice Chairmen, Supervisors and Special Advisers by the Ministry of Local Govt Affairs in partnership with TIMA Integrated Business Limited in Ado Ekiti.

Oyebanji explained that his administration has pursued reforms aimed at strengthening local government autonomy, improving accountability, enhance revenue and promoting participatory development.
The Workshop, themed “Building Support for effective Local Govt Administration in Ekiti State”, alligned strongly with this Administration’s commitment to deeping good governance at the grassroots, describing the workshop as unique as it brings together different categories of leaders.
He highlighted the areas to be touched in d workshop to include coordinating community engagement and managing local expectations , enhancing communication and accountability, interpreting goverment policies for effective implementation among others ,urging them to reciprocate the gesture by demonstrating professionalism , respect for hierarchy, responsible conduct and shared commitment to vision of shared prosperity.
In his welcome address the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Babatunde Olaoye commended the Governor for the approval of the funds for the workshop, his unwavering support and visionary leadership whose commitment to the grassroots development has transformed the local government in Ekiti and the pivotal role that LG plays in community development.
He described the roles of the participants as being central to the smooth running of the Councils , a support system which complement leadership with competence , discipline and teamwork..
The Workshop also aimed at equiping the participants for policy interpretation, administrative coordination amongst others.
In their good will messages the Technical Adviser for Local Govt Affairs Engr. Adetunji Olabode and ALGON Chairman Hon. Olusegun Ojo who was represented by ALGON Treasurer/Ikole West LCDA Chairman Hon. Mosunmola Adeyemo emphasised that LG remains the cornerstone of the civil service system , charging the participants to imbibe the culture of e-governance with computer literacy.
Responding, one of the participants Mrs Oluwagbohunmi Kemi lauded the government for the workshop opportunity, expressed optimism on how best to perform their duties and responsibilities effectively.
