EKSG Procures Fire Protect Equipment Worth Several Millions 

The Ekiti State Government has procured Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) worth Eight Million Naira for the State Fire Service as part of steps aimed at fortifying the emergency service.

This includes essential protective equipment such as turnout coats and pants, gloves, protective helmets, fire boots, undergarments, socks, eye and hearing protection.

The State Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, who inspected the parade of Fire Officers dressed in the new PPE, commended the Biodun Oyebanji-led government for its commitment towards ensuring that the State Fire Service is well-equipped to combat fire outbreaks.

Aluko stated that” the recent fire outbreak at a popular filling station in Ado Ekiti could have claimed lives and property if not for the timely intervention of the Fire Service; adding that the action was a testimony that the Service is alive to its responsibility.”

He charged the Officers to ensure that the PPE materials are well deployed.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Olumide Ajayi urged the public to take preventive measures to avoid fire incidents.

Ajayi said the Personnel Protective protective Equipment were parts of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its fire services following the resuscitation of some Fire Service vehicles.

He assured that the government would continue to equip the Fire Service with necessary tools for optimal performance.

The Director of Fire Service, Mr Olusola Famosaya thanked the state government for its prompt response to the Service’s needs.

He promised that the Service would continue to focus on prevention of fire and give its best in fighting reported cases of fire incidents across the State.
