Ekiti State PDP Chairman Challenged Oyebanji: Publish Ekiti Financial Records Now !

By Ige Sunday

The recently elected Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State, Rt Honourable Tunji Odeyemi has publicly challenged the incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to as a matter of urgency publish the detailed financial records of the State without wasting time.

The brand new PDP Chairman in Ekiti State, Rt Honourable Tunji Odeyemi equally lambasted Governor Biodun Oyebanji as he describes his government as one with three long years of emptiness, deceit, and monumental failure in governance, accusing the APC administration of betraying the hopes of Ekiti people.

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti by the PDP State Chairman, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Tunji Odeyemi, the party declared that Governor Oyebanji’s three years in office have been marked by propaganda, vanity projects, and reckless mismanagement of state resources.

“After three wasted years in office, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has offered Ekiti people nothing but empty speeches and photo sessions. There is no meaningful project to justify the trillions that have passed through the state purse. The administration is running on lies and propaganda,” the statement reads.

The PDP accused the governor of squandering Ekiti’s growing internally generated revenue (IGR) which reportedly rose from ₦650 million to over ₦2.3 billion monthly without any visible improvement in infrastructure, education, healthcare, or welfare.

“Where is the money? What has Ekiti gained from the supposed rise in revenue especially the homogenous federal allocations? Our hospitals are collapsing, our schools are neglected, our roads are death traps, and our youths are jobless. Yet the government boasts about figures that mean nothing to the common man,” the PDP queried.

The statement further condemned the ₦200 billion allegedly spent on road construction as a monumental fraud without evidence on the ground.

“Let Governor Oyebanji point to one major road project completed with ₦200 billion. This is broad-day deception and financial recklessness at its peak,” the PDP thundered.

On the Ado-Ekiti flyover project, the PDP described it as a symbol of the government’s misplaced priorities, calling it a vanity project designed to impress a few elites while the majority suffer neglect.

“Ekiti people don’t need cosmetic flyovers; they need real governance. Rural communities are cut off, hospitals lack basic equipment, and civil servants are groaning yet the governor is busy celebrating a flyover to nowhere,” the party said.

The PDP also accused the governor of concealing Ekiti’s financial records and challenged him to make public all details of loans, grants, and allocations received since he assumed office.

“Transparency is not a privilege; it’s an obligation. Let Governor Oyebanji publish the state’s accounts if his hands are clean. Ekiti people deserve to know how their money is being spent,” the statement continued.

Concluding, Rt. Hon. Tunji Odeyemi urged citizens to remain vigilant and resist the APC’s attempt to continue its “legacy of failure” beyond 2026.

“Three years of emptiness are enough. Ekiti deserves competent, people-focused leadership and not a government of excuses and propaganda. The time for change is now,” he declared.
