Ekiti police arrest 3 suspect for murder, killing

The Command Rapid Response Squad of Ekiti State police command has arrested one Ogunlusi Damilola, Olorunsola Segun and Sekoni Tunde for killing an 85-yr old farmer in the state.

This was revealed in a statement by the command public relations officer, Sunday Abutu said the suspects specialised in attacking farmers and stealing their farm produce.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that on 12/07/2023 at about 1700hrs, they went to the complainant’s farm situated off lyin-Ado express road, attacked him with machete and carted away some tubers of yam.

They also confessed that on the 27/06/2023, they entered another farm settlement at Ipole-Ekiti where one Awe Taiwo Julius was inflicted with serious injuries and ten tubers of yam were carted away in the process”

Abutu said the 85-year-old victim later died while receiving treatment at Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti.

He noted that the stolen yam tubers were recovered, while effort is still ongoing to arrest other members of the gang now at large.

The PPRO said the Suspects would be arraigned in court at the end of investigation.
