The new Chairman of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAÑ) Ekiti State Chapter Reverend Mrs Olufunmi Rosemary Agbaje has declared that Ekiti will soon be an eldorado of rice production which would in turn boost agriculture and the internally generated revenue,IGR of the state for the benefit of the people.
Agbaje gave the declaration during her swearing in, after taken Oath of office in Ado Ekiti on Thursday 15th August 2024.
Rev Mrs Funmi Agbaje who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Buildup Women in Agriculture Initiative and an experienced rice farmer promised to be a faithful leader,”who will lead Elkti State Rice Farmers in rice Production for food Security and wealth Creation”
Rev Mrs Funmi Agbaje hailed the Federal Government of Nigeria over ban on the importation of Rice from another country to “prevent hindrance to the nation’s economy’
She sighted some of the Country like USA,India, Thailand and others that had prospered through the Rice production.
She urged the state governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to support Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria in the Food Security through Rice Sector .
She urged the government to provide “the modern farm implements, processing Center/machine and other necessary materials to make Rice business as part of source of Internal Generated Income (IGR)to Ekiti State to make Ekiti State second to none in Nigeria in Rice production.”
