Ekiti LG Polls: Nine Female APC candidates Present Nomination Forms, Pledge Impactful Leadership

In a significant boost for women’s political participation in Ekiti State, nine female candidates contesting the forthcoming Local Government Elections have formally presented their letters of intent and nomination forms to the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji.

The symbolic presentation according to the wife of the Governor underscores the growing inclusion of women in grassroots governance and reflects BAO administration’s continued commitment to gender equity in political representation.

Dr. Oyebanji, who was represented at the event that took place in her office by her Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters Mrs. Toyin Adepoju, charged the aspirants to use the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

She urged them to demonstrate excellence in leadership and prove beyond doubt that women can perform exceptionally well in public office.

“Let this be an opportunity to show the world that women can lead effectively and deliver meaningful development. The responsibility before you is enormous, and I encourage you to remain focused, committed, and people-oriented”. She said.

Dr. Oyebanji also extended her appreciation to the Governor for his steadfast commitment to empowering women and creating inclusive opportunities within the state’s political landscape

Speaking on behalf of the aspirants, the incumbent Chairman of Ado North Local Council Development Area, Mrs. Tokunbo Gbadamosi, expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji for her unwavering encouragement and support for women in leadership.

Mrs. Gbadamosi also commended the Governor of Ekiti State for increasing the number of women representatives at the local government level, describing the move as a bold and progressive step toward inclusive governance.

She pledged that the female candidates would justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering quality leadership and impactful service to their respective communities.

“We are grateful for the opportunity given to us to serve. We assure the government and the good people of Ekiti State that we will not disappoint. We are determined to prove that women are capable, competent, and committed to grassroots development”. She stated.

The candidates further appreciated the Governor for purchasing the nomination forms on their behalf, describing the gesture as both empowering and motivating.

They also acknowledged the consistent advocacy and moral support of Dr. Oyebanji in advancing women’s participation in politics across the state.
