The Chairman of Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Hon. Bamidele Omoleye, has commended the numerous infrastructural projects being executed in the local council area by the state Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
Hon. Omoleye gave the commendation during a tour of the Local Government council by the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Communication, tagged “BAO Street Connect”. He described the projects as improving the lives of people in rural communities.
The Chairman pointed out that the Governor’s drive in the education sector in the local government area, through the renovation of public primary and secondary schools, focuses on strategic initiatives aimed at transforming the education sector in the state through sustained investments in school infrastructure development were highly commendable.
He also lauded the Governor for his efforts on training and retraining of teachers on new trends, and recruitment of quality teachers which he added would cater for the rise in enrollment figures in public schools across the state.
The council boss also noted that the visible developments in the local communities, particularly in the health sector, where the Governor has taken bold steps to upgrade the Ifaki-Ekiti healthcare facility into a viable general hospital and equipped it with modern equipment, are also commendable.
According to the Chairman, “the Ifaki-Ekiti General Hospital has undergone significant transformation, while Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in other towns and villages in the council area are currently being rehabilitated and upgraded”.
He emphasized that these interventions have improved healthcare access for rural dwellers, many of whom now benefit from functional and better-equipped medical facilities.
Omoleye also highlighted the ongoing construction of the access road linking Ido-Ekiti and Ipere-Ekiti in Ilejemeje LGA, describing it as a strategic project that will boost economic and social interaction between the two communities. He said the road, when completed, would positively impact the socioeconomic lives of residents, particularly farmers and traders.
“These developments have far-reaching impacts on the people and the nation at large, as they will contribute to addressing the skills gap in critical sectors such as agriculture, education, and healthcare; enhance economic growth and development through entrepreneurship and innovation; improve the quality of education and healthcare services in the state; reduce unemployment and poverty rates; and position the state as a hub for education, innovation, and economic growth”.
“The above, when added to the annual school census, which is a crucial step in education planning and policymaking, shows a clear and unmatched commitment towards the growth and development of the people by the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji-led administration in Ekiti State.” He said.
He pledged the unwavering support of the good people of Ido/Osi Local Government to the administration’s vision and programmes, expressing optimism that the Governor’s rural-focused agenda will continue to bridge the developmental gap between urban and rural areas in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor, Mary Osho, who was accompanied by some stakeholders from the state, also appreciated the Chairman, reiterating Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s inclusive approach to governance and equitable distribution of developmental projects across the state.
According to her, the BAO Street Connect is a grassroots-driven communication initiative championed by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, through the Office of Community Communications, to strengthen the bridge between the government and the grassroots.
At the forum, various household items, including foodstuffs, were distributed to the people at the grassroots.
