With the Ekiti State Governorship election around the corner, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ekiti State chapter has urged all Governorship candidates vying for the June 18 election to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and embrace peace before, during and after the poll.
The body of Sports Journalists in Ekiti State noted that politics should not been seen as a do or die affair rather a sport where there must be a victor and a vanquished.
SWAN urged any candidate that wins to be magnanimous in victory while those that do not emerge victorious should be take the outcome in good fate as it is done in sports.
It urged followers of all candidates and parties to be law abiding and avoid desperation.
In its quest to contribute towards the develoment of Ekiti state, the Qozeem Oladapo led SWAN will shortly after the Saturday election officially present a carefully prepared Sports Development Blueprint to who ever emerges winner .
According to the secretary of SWAN, Ekiti State, Bisi Ogunleye, the SPORTS DEVELOPMENT BLUEPRINT contains an 11 point ideals through which sports could be taken to an enviable height during the next dispensation in Ekiti State.
The move will also give clues to the governor-elect on the key areas where development are being sought by Ekiti sportsmen and women at home and abroad to complement the agenda of the next administration.June 18
