A former lawmaker who represented Oye/ Ikole Federal Constituency, Bimbo Daramola on Saturday commenced a monthly health and fitness activity tagged “The BAOWalk” in a bid to cut down residents’ expenses on medical treatments.
The exercise which began in Ikole-Ekiti, had a massive turn out of youths, supporters and residents of the town.
The exercisecommenced at Olokonjo Junction near Ansa-ru-deen grammar school around 7am and ended in the axis of Federal Medical Center, Ikole-Ekiti. It lasted for two hours.
Speaking with journalists, the congressman said the exercise was to complement the efforts of the State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji in the area of improving the physical and mental capabilities of the people
About one hundred secondary school leavers who joined the exercise won free Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms which was part of measures to support their education in view of the current economic realities.
Daramola revealed that the next monthly exercise would come up in Ijero Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
“I’m indeed delighted. I’m delighted. I’m overwhelmed. I am happy.
“Because you know that before we got to this point, you know the drama that was going on. I said God, you know that our motives are pure. We believe in Governor Oyebanji and that is why we are supporting him.
“If I believe in something, I’ll put everything into it. And that’s what we have done. And I want to appreciate every one person that came from from Ado, from everywhere.
Stakeholders who participated in the exercise commended Bimbo Daramola for the initiative and called on residents of the state to embrace it.
The programme featured a brief health talk and refreshments.
