No fewer than 100 people in the category of children, men and women have been enrolled by the wife of the Ebonyi state Governor, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru into health insurance scheme in Ohaukwu local government area of the state.
The beneficiaries were registered into the scheme on weekend.
The first lady also inaugurated seven class room blocks in Amoffia and Okposi Ngbo and 2 hand boreholes all in Ohaukwu local group area of Ebonyi state.
Enrollment of 0-5 years old children, men and women into the scheme among others were done during the inauguration of committee members on her pet project, Better Life for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO) in the local government.
Mrs. Nwifuru during the program said, “Today, we are commissioning key projects that stand as a major foundation for growth and excellence. Education is priority in our Government and ranks No 1 in ‘The People’s Charter of Needs’ mantra of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru. In Amoffia Ngbo, we are commissioning 4 classroom block, while in Okposi Ngbo, we are commissioning 3 classroom block. These developments are laudable and remain prints of good governance in Ebonyi State, stepped down to our rural areas. They are meant to provide the needed ambience for basic education to thrive in these communities.
“In keeping with the tenets of The People’s Charter of Needs, I will today, enroll 100 persons, between 0-5 years and our aged fathers and mothers into Ebonyi State Health Insurance Scheme, Free of charge . Again, Health is second on our priority list as Government. We will leave no stone unturned in our sincere quest to complement the good efforts of our Governor in giving our people, the best health care service delivery.

“I am particularly pleased by these developments today, because BERWO foundation represents a new chapter in our collective efforts to make a positive impact in our lives.

It is only then, that we can record massive and sustainable progress levels, as we proceed. As such, we must unite as one, be compassionate and dedicated, so that we can reach our goals.

Chairman of the local government, Chief Ikechukwu Odono commended the first lady for her efforts to better the life of downtrodden in the society.
He promised to support her pet project to ameliorate the sufferings of children, men and women in the state.
