….. Urges Introduction of Mandatory Law on Companies to release Accurate Data

A University Lecturer and public Affairs Analyst, Dr Gbadebo Akindele has appealed to government to lend supportive hands to scholars in the course of academic researches, adding that scholarly research engulfs a lot of funds ,hence the need for relevant Stakeholders on necessary assistance for the benefit of humanity.
The scholar who bagged a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration spoke on Thursday during the 27th Convocation Ceremony of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU).
Dr Gbadebo highlighted the high cost of Data gathering from bluechip companies while calling on Ekiti State government to sponsor Academic Researchers for development and advancement of the state and the people at large.
The analyst also advocated the introduction of laws with the directive on vibrant Organisations to release data to academic researchers for accurate and credible research work.
He stated “I think the Government and the state government should sponsor some of these researches because it involves a lot of money. Carrying and searching for data alone is expensive.
“Government should be able to tell some of these top-notch companies to help Researchers with their data.
“Majority of the Companies try to keep away with their records because they believe one is going to expose them to their Competitors.
“Government should be able to create a law that will mandate release of data/information from Companies to Researchers. It will be be able to guide them and even help Government in their decision making.”
He analysed the significance of his research topic titled: “Celebrity endorsement, consumer purchase intention, and product market performance of Brewery firms in Lagos, Nigeria.”, Dr Gbadebo said that it will guide top-notch Companies to choosing right Celebrities for their products.
According to him, it would create trustworthiness in the products and enable the Consumers to make the right decisions, since Celebrities are Endorsers of the products.
“My research topic will help the humanity, it will guide towards decision making body if Celebrity actually increases the market performance of the market share of brewery products particularly most of these top-notch, the captain of Industry, the government, the policy makers.
“It will help the consumer to be able to je the right Celebrity for the products.
“If some of these Celebrities are not trustworthy, it will backfire on that particular product because the product they serve as Endorsers to, will go down drastically and the market share.”
