A socio-political group under the auspices of Ibom National Youth Support Network (INYSN) has cautioned the Akwa Ibom state Governor-elect, Pastor Umo Eno, from making any attempt to reappoint aides of the incumbent Governor, Udom Emmanuel, into his administration.
The group in a statement issued by its president, Comrade Micah Jumbo, Friday, said there was a need for the incoming administration of Pastor Eno to have a new team to help actualize his ‘ARISE Agenda’.
“The Governor-Elect of Akwa Ibom State should as a matter of urgent public importance shift the political pendulum by injecting new blood into the system of governance in the state through the appointment of new hands with the view to enhancing creativity and innovations.
“It is therefore imperative for Pastor Umo Bassey Eno if truly he wants to actualize the economic and socio-political prosperity of the state, to urgently overhaul all sit-tight Commissioners, Board Members, Special Advisers, and Special Assistants to the Governor”, he said.
The group also noted that the exclusion of Governor Udom’s aides from the incoming administration will save the state from the political tension that usually arises between governors and their predecessors.
It also said that there was a need to give other competent people from all parts of the state the opportunity to serve the state, adding it would engender the feeling of inclusiveness in governance.
“It will calm the nerves and reduce political tension while political inclusion shall be guaranteed. instead of giving two or more members of the same family political appointment as if they own the state.
“Also, an analytical review of the immediate past administration shows that political appointments were indiscriminately given to members of the same family without recourse to any other support groups or individuals, thereby ignoring the contributions of others in the same local government area.
“This ugly practice if not checked at the early stage of any government always generates dust and stiff opposition to the government in power”, he said.
