A man has been arrested in Delta State for allegedly assaulting his two-year-old daughter with a cable wire after she reportedly failed to greet him in the morning.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Okpanam community, Delta State, following an intervention by filmmaker and human rights activist Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop.
The suspect, an indigene of Okija in Anambra State, was reportedly arrested after his wife raised an alarm over the alleged abuse of their toddler, identified as Blessing Obi.
According to the child’s mother, the incident occurred shortly after the family’s morning prayers.
She alleged that the father became violent after the two-year-old girl failed to greet him in the morning
The man reportedly tied the toddler’s hands with a wire before allegedly using another wire to beat her.
The alleged assault reportedly left the child with injuries and visible scars on different parts of her body.
Following the mother’s public outcry, Stanley Ontop intervened and contacted law enforcement authorities over the alleged child abuse.
His intervention reportedly led to the arrest and detention of the suspect by the police.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations into the alleged assault continue.
