The Archbishop, Anglican Province of Enugu, Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Chukwuma, has lamented how most Nigeria politicians hold fake and questionable certificates, affecting the genuinety of such politicians.
Chukwuma, who made the declaration at fourth convocation ceremony of Paul’s University, Awka, Anambra state, urged them to enrol into recognized and accredited institutions to obtain genuine certificates useful everywhere.
The Archbishop, who is also the Proprietor of the university, posited that graduating from accredited universities would make students to become resourceful, ethical, morally and spiritual sound.
“If you are serious spiritually you will not go empty at the end of your study in this university. You will be found worthy in character and learning, and obtain certificates that are not questionable even in politics. You know that most of our politicians are carrying on certificates that are fake and questionable. Our own (Paul’s University) is not like that. We are recognized. We don’t issue questionable certificates,” he added.
Also speaking, the 2023 Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) and former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, urged universities to explore agriculture as an option for sustenance and wealth creation rather than depending solely on students tuition fees or proprietors funding .
On his part, the Chancellor, Paul’s University and Primate of All Nigeria, Anglican Communion, His Grace Henry Ndukuba, commended the university for maintaining excellence, even as he pronounced Awka Diocese to take ownership of the institution for efficiency and smooth administration.
Earlier, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Paul University, Awka, Venerable Professor Obiora Nwosu, explained that the university currently run 7 faculties, has records of 955 admitted students, while those convoked at the event were 370 first degree graduands, 383 postgraduate graduands, and conferment of Honourary Doctorate Degrees on four distinguished Nigerians and 3 posthumous awards on three departed Anglican prelates.
