Children’s Day: FIRS to introduce Book on Tax education for Kids

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) said it would organize a public launch to inaugurate a book titled ‘Taxation: Essential Knowledge for Nigerian Children’.

The presentation forms part of the activities planned to mark the 2025 Children’s Day celebrations.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the event director, Mr Jerry Adesanwo.

According to Adesanwo, the public launch of the educational book will take place on Tuesday May 27 in Abuja and will be co-hosted by Arojah Concepts and Sprezzatura Publishing Ltd.

He explained that the book is designed as a straightforward guide to taxation for secondary school students.

“It was authored by Arabinrin Aderonke Ejura Blessing Haruna and edited by Dr M.S. Abubakar.

“The book aims to introduce Nigerian children to basic taxation concepts, fostering financial literacy and civic responsibility from an early age”.

Adesanwo stated that Dr Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of FIRS, will serve as Chief Host, while the Vice President of Nigeria, Sen. Kashim Shettima, will attend as the Special Guest of Honour.

Other dignitaries expected to attend include Sen. Abdulaziz Yar’adua, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army; Dr Aliyu Modibbo, former Minister of the FCT; and Mr Abdulmumin Jibrin, Member of the House of Representatives among others.

The event will feature book reviews, readings by participating schools, as well as fun games and dance dramas.

He noted the occasion as an important step towards promoting tax education among young Nigerians, thereby laying the foundation for a more responsible and informed citizenry.
