The Trophy Tour to the palaces of some royal fathers in Ekiti State ahead of the forthcoming Ekiti Obas Cup has come to an end with the visit to the palace of the chairman Ekiti Obas Council, oba Gabriel Adejuwon (Onisan of Isan-Ekiti)
At the palace of Onisan, the royal father was elated to receive the trophy in the presence of some eminent sons and daughters of the Community and youths.
Oba Adejuwon said he was particularly delighted that the youth soccer competition came up during his tenure as the chairman of the Obas Council.
He promised to wholeheartedly support it and encourage youth from the community to be actively involved.
The Onisan of Isan-Ekiti being the country home of the governor of the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi said the competition would be a tool to further unite the Ekiti as the only homogeneous state in the country.
He urged well meaning citizens of the state at home and abroad to compliment the efforts of the organizers towards ensuring the realization of the set vision and agenda.
The Youth of Isan Ekiti headed by the Youth President, Adebayo Ogunsan and the Sports coach of the community, Tope Ogundare were on hand to identify with the royal father whom they described as a passionate youth and sport enthusiast.
Also visited was the palace of the Oloye of Oye Ekiti, Oba (sir) Micheal Ademolaju who is a renowned football lover.
Oba Ademolaju who has been privately sponsoring an annual soccer competition among children in primary schools for almost a decade promised to personally take steps to ensure massive support from the Ekiti Obas Council.
He described the Obas Cup as a right step in the right direction especially at this political era being a tool to preach peace among all stakeholders.
The Oloye of Oye Ekiti who was an active football player as a youth urged all participants to eschew violence before, during and after the competition.
The Ekiti Obas Cup being an initiative of “The Gogetter Multi Links” hopes to kickoff on April 27 and end on May 31 prior to the June Governorship election.
Meanwhile, the second phase of the trophy tour is expected to begin early April as prominent personalities of Ekiti extraction are expected to be visited with a view to attracting sponsorship for the under 18 male soccer competition.
The first phase of the trophy tour saw the likes of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu, the Olukere of odo-oja Ikere Ekiti, Oba Ganiyu Obasanyin earlier recieving the trophy amidst joy in their palaces.
