Alumni rallies support for Ifaki Grammar School ahead of 70th Anniversary

The National President of the Ifaki Grammar School Old Students Association, IGSOSA, Mr. Kunle Olofintuyi, has called on alumni to intensify support for their alma mater as it prepares for its 70th anniversary in January, 2027.

Mr. Olofintuyi made the appeal during a familiarization visit to prominent alumni, including Architect Dipo Ajayi at his Ilupeju-Ekiti residence and the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Science, FUTES, Iyin-Ekiti, Professor Gbenga Aribisala.

Highlighting the school’s pressing needs, Olofintuyi listed the absence of an access road, a computer-based test centre, a modern library, and electricity supply as major challenges.

He urged Architect Ajayi to join other alumni in addressing these gaps, noting his distinguished contributions to architectural projects across Ekiti State and Nigeria.

The President also presented Ajayi with the architectural design of the school’s new site, a compendium, and the association’s muffler, while informing him of the upcoming anniversary.

Architect Ajayi, in response, commended the outreach, stressing the importance of unity and peace among members.

He pledged renewed commitment to the school, promising to visit the site with the President to explore ways of contributing.

At FUTES, Olofintuyi commended Professor Aribisala’s past leadership of IGSOSA, recalling his role in relocating the school to its current site and spearheading projects such as classroom blocks, a borehole, and a football field.

The IGSOSA’s President commended the developmental stride taking place on the campus of the newly Federal University at Iyin-Ekiti.

He announced Aribisala’s appointment as Chairman of the 70th Anniversary Planning Committee.

Accepting the role, Professor Aribisala described it as an honour, assuring members of his dedication to organising a befitting celebration.

He emphasised the school’s impact on his life and expressed readiness to give back, while calling for collective support from alumni.

On the President’s delegation were the General Secretary, Deacon Oluremi Omodara; the Public Relations Officer I, Sir Kelechi David; Treasurer, Prophet Sunday Ojaomo; Auditor, Pastor Taiwo Adesola; Welfare Officer, Mrs Florence Ajayi; Ex-Officio member, Revd Rotimi Osho; and Dr Gbenga Olowolafe.
