Ajasin Varsity Alumni expresses concern over Students’ Accommodation Challenge.

The management of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko has urged the varsity’s Alumni Association to speed up efforts to complete its ongoing hostel project.

 

A press release by Publicity & Events Secretary,AAUA Alumni Association,O’Seun Ogunsakin stated that the call was made in Akungba Akoko during a courtesy call by members of the Dr Olumide Olugbemi-Gabriel led Executive Council of the Alumni Association, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Olugbenga Ige appealed to the association to expedite work on the hostel project so as to address the shortage of accommodation being experienced by students of the University.

 

The Vice Chancellor who recalled how the varsity lost an undergraduate to flood in 2019 said the varsity is eager not only for the alumni’s intervention but also for a public-private partnership arrangement that would enable majority of the students to live on campus.

Prof Ige who commended the Alumni Association for previous interventions/donations made to the institution expressed optimism that the alumni body could make positive impacts in view of the challenges facing the institution.

Earlier, the President of the Association, Dr Olugbemi-Gabriel had explained that his vision is to lead an alumni association that would be a partner in the progress of the University.

The alumni president assured that the association under his able leadership would do everything possible to ensure the completion of the project as soon as possible.

Dr Olugbemi-Gabriel however, noted that “despite the challenges faced by the varsity, it has produced many graduates who are performing well in their chosen careers.”

The University’s Director of Advancement, Prof. Victor Olumekun and the leadership of the Alumni thereafter visited the hostel project site for an on-site assessment of the work done.
