The Afao Development Council (ADC) has commended Governor Kayode Fayemi for naming one of the model colleges after one of their illustrious sons, Chief Deji Fasuan in recognition of his contribution to the development of education and the state in general.
Deji Fasuan Model School is one of the four model colleges built to address overpopulation in some schools in the State capital and was commissioned by Dr Fayemi on October 1, on commemoration of the Chief Fasuan’s 90th birthday and 25th anniversary of the creation of Ekiti State.
Chief Fasuan, a retired Permanent Secretary was the Chairman Ekiti State Creation Committee.
The commendation was contained in a letter addressed to the Governor
in Ado Ekiti and signed by the President of the Council, Mr Olusesan Adesuyi on behalf of the sons and daughters of Afao Ekiti.
Mr Adesuyi, in the letter conveyed the gratitude of the people of Afao Ekiti to Governor Fayemi for recognizing the worthy contributions of Chief Fasuan to the progress of the State and for honouring him while still alive.
He said the honour is regarded as a groundbreaking feat in the history of the town.
“On behalf of all Afao sons and daughters, the Executive committee of ADC wishes to thank you most sincerely for the honour done on our community leader, Asiwaju Oladeji Fasuan.
“The building and inauguration of the Deji Fasuan Model College, Afao Road, Ado Ekiti is a milestone in the annals of our community.
Afao has always known that the contributions of this worthy son to the society would one day be duly recognized; but we never thought it would come this way, you have done well and we thank you.” the letter added.
