Adeleke attributes Students’ Poor Performance in WAEC to lack of Tech. Innovation

Osun state governor Ademola Adeleke has decried poor performance of Students in West African Examinations Council (WAEC) as an indication to failure of tech innovation in schools.

Governor Adeleke  expresssed determination to reintroduce digital learning tablets in schools in the state.

The governor has therefore directed the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation to look into the situation for necessary step.

The method of e-learning and Introduction of tablets and computers was the initiative of former governor Rauf Aregbesola to improve learning and teaching in Osun schools.

300,000 students reportedly benefitted from the programme which boosted students’ performance in Osun senior secondary pupils by over 193 per cent, while saving the state over N8.4 billion in annual textbook expenses

The programme however becomes standstill after the administration of Aregbesola.

But Governor Adeleke, yesterday, presenting instructional materials to pupils as part of activities to mark his 100 days in office, decried the poor performance of pupils and West African Examinations Council’s, WAEC’s ranking, faulting the failure of tech innovation in schools.“
