The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has called off the embarked warning strike with the directive on members to return to work today Monday May 22, 2023.
After a three-hour extraordinary National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, NARD stated that it will assess the federal government’s dedication to resolving the concerns within the upcoming two weeks.
On Friday, May 19, 2023, the association signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the federal government, aiming at tackling the issues brought up by the resident doctors.
Nevertheless, NARD declared that it will reevaluate the strike after two weeks.
Confirming the report, the association posted a statement signed by the publicity secretary, Dr. Umar Musa, on their official Twitter handle on Monday.
He wrote, “The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), calls off its 5-day warning strike after review of the commitments made by the FG. Members are to resume work 8am Monday, 22nd May 2023.
“Further review of progresses made shall be ratified at the NARD OGM, tagged ‘EKO 2023’ slated for 28th May – 3rd June. Official release follows immediately.”
