Infrastructure Ministry, Agencies Honour Aluko for Transformative Leadership

The Ekiti Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities and its agencies have honoured Prof. Mobolaji Aluko for his contributions to infrastructure development and public utility services in the state.

The honour was conferred at a send-off programme organised by the ministry, where heads of agencies highlighted achievements recorded in water supply, rural and urban electrification, fire safety infrastructure and municipal services under his leadership.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Toyin Ojelabi-Pedro, commended Aluko for his mentorship, technical expertise and integrity, noting that his leadership had positively influenced the agencies and contributed to the state’s development.

Speaking at the event, Engr. Ayodele Osalade said the Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency had recorded significant progress under Aluko’s leadership, including the establishment of what he described as Nigeria’s first standard laboratory of its kind for a regulatory agency.

Osalade urged the outgoing professor to sustain the qualities and commitment that had earned him recognition.

Similarly, the Managing Director of the Ekiti State Water and Sewerage Company, Mr Oluwole Afolabi, praised Aluko for his selfless service, guidance and commitment to the development of the agencies.

Afolabi said he had personally benefited from Aluko’s leadership and guidance, adding that the professor had played a significant role in helping the company meet expected standards for organisational transformation.

The General Manager of the Ekiti Transmission Company, Engr. Olufemi Farotimi, expressed appreciation to Aluko for his guidance and efforts in facilitating connections between the company, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and relevant stakeholders.

He said the support had created opportunities for economic growth and improved operational efficiency.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Ekiti State Electricity Regulatory Bureau, Engr. Samson David, represented by Engr. Moses Ajimati, highlighted improvements in resolving metering complaints and disputes between electricity consumers and the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).

David said residents had previously experienced difficulties identifying appropriate channels for resolving electricity-related complaints, but that the process had become easier under Aluko’s leadership.

He added that electricity service delivery had improved, while prospective investors had expressed interest in the sector.

According to him, the anticipated investments could further transform electricity supply and address persistent power challenges in the state.

The Programme Coordinator of the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH) Programme, Engr. Adewumi Stephen, described Aluko as an influential figure in the programme.

Stephen commended him for encouraging team members to express their views, contribute ideas and demonstrate their capabilities, noting that his leadership fostered participation and professional growth.

In his remarks, the General Manager of the Ekiti State Electricity Board, Engr. Taiwo Abegunde, appreciated those who attended the programme and wished Aluko good health, longevity and success in his future endeavours.

Responding, Aluko thanked the permanent secretary, heads of agencies, directors and other officials for organising the programme and attending the event.

He urged the agency heads to uphold professionalism, respect institutional standards and remain committed to doing what was right in the interest of Ekiti State’s development.

Aluko also commended the ministry’s workforce for its dedication and competence, acknowledging the support and contributions of staff since he assumed office.

The event provided an opportunity for the ministry and its agencies to recognise Aluko’s contributions to infrastructure development and public utility administration in the state.
