The presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement, APM, Seyi Makinde, has said the 2027 general election will end politics of lies and deceit in Nigeria.
Makinde spoke on Saturday at the North-East zonal town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State.
He said the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government claimed it had the magic wand to solve Nigeria’s challenges, recalling that President Bola Tinubu told Nigerians not to re-elect him if he failed to fix electricity in four years.
“We are all aware that they have failed to provide electricity. They came up with the presidential policy on CNG and electric vehicles. That policy failed. They came up with the naira-for-crude initiative. That policy also failed,” he said.
The outgoing Governor of Oyo State promised to run a sincere government that would not undermine the rights of citizens.
“We will not play politics. We will not undermine your rights. We will ensure that we tell you the exact truth. We will listen to you. Solutions can come from anywhere,” he said.
Makinde urged Nigerians to key into his reset agenda, saying the country deserves better as the most populous black nation in the world.
He disclosed that the APM will soon unveil its manifesto, which was delayed to accommodate inputs from grassroots consultations.
“I will listen to you, and we promise that we will find new solutions to the problems we are faced with as a nation,” he added.
Makinde said his administration would be a transitional government of national unity that would not last beyond four years and would be all-inclusive.
Earlier, APM National Leader and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, described the party as a force to be reckoned with, noting that its presidential candidate believes in inclusivity and has the capacity to reset Nigeria.
Vice presidential candidate, Lawal Daura, said Nigeria needs to reset, “otherwise, we will continue to be in motion but without movement,” adding that it would require serious-minded Nigerians to achieve.
