The Ogun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade, has received an Award of Outstanding Service from Quick Legal Magazine in recognition of his contributions to the administration of justice and the development of the legal profession.
The award was presented at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Justice, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, during an event attended by legal practitioners, stakeholders and other distinguished guests.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Editor-in-Chief of Legal Lead Publication Limited, publishers of Quick Legal Magazine, and former Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ijebu-Ode Branch, Mr. Moruff Balogun, said the award recognised Ogungbade’s contributions to the justice sector and his efforts to address legal challenges confronting residents of the state.
Balogun explained that Quick Legal Magazine was established to showcase the achievements of lawyers who had made significant contributions to the legal profession. He added that the publication also provides legal advice and documents the contributions of distinguished personalities to the development of the profession.
He particularly commended the Attorney-General for his interventions in tackling land grabbing in Ogun State, describing the practice as a challenge that requires sustained legal and institutional action.
According to him, Ogungbade has demonstrated commitment to deploying legal and governmental mechanisms to address unlawful land acquisition and protect property owners.
“We believe that recognition should be given to individuals who are contributing to the development of the justice system and the protection of people through the effective application of the law,” Balogun said.
He noted that the award was also designed to encourage public officers in the justice sector to sustain their efforts towards improving access to justice, protecting citizens’ rights and upholding the rule of law.
Balogun urged legal practitioners and other stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at strengthening the justice system.
In his response, Ogungbade expressed appreciation to Quick Legal Magazine, Legal Lead Publication Limited and members of the legal profession for the recognition.
He described the award as a motivation to continue serving the people of Ogun State with dedication, professionalism and commitment to justice.
The Attorney-General said the recognition reflected not only his personal contributions but also the collective efforts of officials and stakeholders working to improve the state’s justice system.
He emphasised that effective justice delivery required cooperation among government institutions, legal practitioners, security agencies, traditional institutions and members of the public.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this award. I appreciate the organisers for finding me worthy of this recognition.
I regard this award as a call to greater responsibility. It will further encourage me and my colleagues to remain committed to the principles of justice, fairness and the rule of law in the discharge of our responsibilities,” he said.
Ogungbade also acknowledged the challenges posed by land disputes and land grabbing, stressing the need to strengthen legal and institutional mechanisms for protecting lawful property ownership.
He assured residents that the Ministry of Justice would continue to collaborate with relevant institutions and stakeholders to address legal challenges affecting the state.
The Attorney-General dedicated the award to staff members of the Ministry of Justice and other stakeholders whose contributions, he said, had supported the administration of justice in Ogun State.
He also appreciated the Ogun State Government for providing an enabling environment for the justice sector to discharge its responsibilities.
The event ended with calls for stronger collaboration among legal practitioners, government institutions and other stakeholders to strengthen the rule of law and improve justice delivery in Ogun State.
