EKITI OBAS CUP: PLAYERS, OFFICIALS OBSERVE MINUTE SILENCE IN HONOUR OF LATE REFEREE, AS OLOYE, OLUKERE REACH QUARTER FINALS

Matches were decided at two centers on Sunday at the ongoing Ekiti Obas Cup as some teams were shown the way out while some teams qualified for the quarter finals.

At the Federal University, Oye Ekiti Center, the battle between Onisan FC and Elekole FC ended 1-1 while Apeju FC outclassed Onitaji FC.

At the Christ School center in Ado, Olukere FC fought hard to secure a lone goal victory over Arajaka FC while Oloye FC sent Olufaki FC packing.

Meanwhile, a minute silence was observed prior to the matches played on Sunday while the players and officials also wore black arm band on honour of the late Ekiti State referee, Ajibola Success who died in an accident in Ado Ekiti on Friday.

Today, Monday, matches will be played at the Federal Polytechnic and Eyemote School centers as Onigbemo FC face Onire FC and Ewi FC will entertain Onimesi FC.

Elsewhere, Owatapa FC will slug it out with Alawe FC just as Alara of Aramoko FC will take on Owa Ooye Okemesi FC.

Some teams have Ben eliminated from the Ekiti Obas Cup Under 18 soccer Championship which began with 16 teams while some teams including Olukere FC and Oloye FC have qualified for the quarter finals.

The quarter final matches are scheduled to be played at the Federal Polytechnic on Wednesday and Thursday this week while the semi finals are to be decided at same venue on May 29.

The third place and final match will be played on Tuesday next week, May 31 with all royal fathers, all Governorship candidates, National Assembly candidates and several dignitaries expected to be in attendance.
