Ekiti APC Direct Primary Democratic, Deputy Gov Hails Oyebanji, Leaders

The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has saluted the Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led leadership of the All All Progressives Congress in the State, for setting a template of direct primary that is democratic and acceptable to stakeholders.

Mrs Afuye said the party had succeeded in giving power back to the people by allowing their voices to count and made Democratic contributions to who should represent them at any level of government.

The Deputy Governor gave the commendations in Ikere Ekiti, on Saturday, after voting at Atiba/Aafin Ward, during the House of Representatives primary in Ekiti South Federal Constituency’s
shadow election.

Mrs Afuye advised party members to keep the bond of unity in the party and align firmly with the party leadership in whatever decision they make to make the party records a resounding victory in the June 20 Governorship poll and the 2027 general elections.

She expressed elation over the peaceful conducts of the contestants and their backers, describing such as signposting how united the ruling party is and its desire to protect the fundamental rights of every member to seek elective positions without inhibition.

Mrs Afuye saluted the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies for their partnership, culminating in the success of the primary, saying such should be replicated in other subsequent primaries across all the parties.

“I am happy that our APC leaders, under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji have done us proud, by having a House of Representatives primary that is peaceful and highly democratic. Nobody was shortchanged.

“All of us as members of the APC family must see this election as no victor, no vanquished contest. We are all winners. We appreciate the fact that Governor Oyebanji has deeply rooted the culture of winner-embrace-all politics in Ekiti. No more winner takes all.

“Now that we have overcome the challenge of the House of Representatives primary, we should prepare for other primaries ahead. We must keep the bond of oneness as a political family and keep supporting the Oyebanji- led administration.

“We are setting a template for Nigerians on how a good and acceptable democracy should be. We must not fail to keep this flag flying as the ruling party, because other parties are learning from us”.
