Ever Wondered Why Ekiti Voters Are Constantly Engendered Towards Gov Oyebanji’s Second Term Victory? By Abiodun Borisade

I will state facts before I juxtapose whatever odds psephologists table before us (the Public) as to indicate how governor Oyebanji’s victory at the gubernatorial election will unfold.

The political maturity exhibited by governor Oyebanji spans the width and breath of Ekiti Polity and predates his ascension to the Numero uno position. I bet many never knew that the Ado-Iyin road commenced by the immediate past administration was actually first commissioned and commenced under the civilian administration of President Shehu Shagari, yes you read it correctly!! That road was conceptualized and works actually began on the drainage under old Ondo state, hence it is a federal road. Thank God the noise about failed roads has ended in Ekiti, but I must bring to life that an apology is due Gov Oyebanji by those who out of ignorance pelted insulted that he abandoned the “Continuity Agenda”. Let’s not forget that the Federal government whilst Fashola was minister for works put in place a policy of not refunding state governments that embarked on construction, repair of any sort on federal roads. How the immediate past administration got the Ado-Iyin portion of the entire extended road completed is left to the conjunction of the immediate past administration, but the federal government didn’t refund whatever cost is expenses on the road. Fast forward to today, The Federal Government of Nigeria, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved the inclusion of the Itawure – Aramoko – Ado Ekiti and Aramoko – Ijero – Ifaki Ekiti roads in the 2026 federal budget for construction and rehabilitation.

Ekiti is by default a Progressive State, all you need to confirm this as fact is from the names associable with the towns and village associations!!! Yet, Governor Oyebanji has established a Leadership Platform that cuts across all nuclei of political thinking within the past leaders of the state.

This is not an encomium as I’m not governor Oyebanji’s speech writer and neither am I seeking patronage of any sort beyond stating facts as they are. It was previously unthinkable that governors, their deputies and other political gladiators from different political parties could be challenged to formulate a direction for Ekiti development, this is now the applicable under governor Oyebanji’s initiative. Quoting former governor Fayose, “God is kind to Ekiti for making Oyebanji governor”. Believe me, there were many that wouldn’t have cared if Ekiti went to war, and over what? Their ungracious personal ambition.

My last routine interaction with my political Constituency necessaiated a new group that required my getting familiar with, the newly registered voters, those who had just come of age. Their enthusiasm had to be encouraged. My advocacy to them was simple, get involved if your relevance is to be established. I had to make them realize that the autonomy granted LGA could only be sustained if political grassroots representation was ripe, hence their contribution remains appreciated.

The administration has invested heavily in agriculture, reviving farm settlements inspired by historical models like those under Chief Obafemi Awolowo, providing land, seedlings, and support to young farmers. This has attracted investors, such as Agbeyewa Farms, and positioned areas like Ikole as Special Agriculture Processing Zones, leading to job creation and food security gains.

Broader economic stability, including improved security and visitor inflows, has also benefited small businesses and informal sectors, with even niche groups citing increased patronage and a conducive environment Ever Wondered Why Ekiti Voters Are Constantly Engendered Towards Gov Oyebanji’s Second Term Victory? Before I handover to the election manager and psephologists, I dare to speak on behalf of all towns and village progressive unions, Ekitikete is fully behind Gov Oyebanji’s Re-election for a second term. I also go a step further cognisant of governor Oyebanji’s leadership style by inviting all opposition aspirants to collapse their in order that Ekiti can recognized as an indivisible political entity.

Your integration and assimilation into the existing structure is guaranteed and naturally your supporter’s welfare will be TOPMOST in all arrangements.
