The Royal Eminence of Atayero Royal Family of Arakale Ruling House Aramoko Ekiti, Dr Olusegun Aderemi has emphasized on the importance of safety measures in the protection of human life, signalled on the need for collective efforts on preservation of lives and workforce.

The Royal eminence who doubles as the Country President
Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) stated this in Abuja while delivering lecture at the 15th International Health And Safety Conference 2025.organized by the OSHA Nigeria Chapter.

The theme of the Conference was
“From Tragedy to Transformation: Learning from the Cost of Violating Safety Rules”
Atayero who declared that the theme of the event was not only timely,
“but profoundly reflective of the realities confronting workplaces across our nation and around the world”
He further stated:
“Today, we gather not just to discuss safety—but to reaffirm our collective commitment to preserving human life, protecting our workforce, strengthening organisational resilience, and ensuring that tragedies are not repeated but transformed into lessons that shape a safer future.
“The High Cost of Violating Safety Rules
Every accident, every fire outbreak, every collapsed structure, every preventable death carries a story—often a painful reminder of what happens when safety is ignored, undervalued, or relegated to the background.
“Beyond the human suffering, violations of safety rules impose heavy financial burdens on organisations, disrupt operations, damage reputations, and sometimes lead to irreversible consequences.
“Yet, from every tragedy, we are presented with a choice: To either ignore the lessons—or to transform the pain into progress.
“As a global association championing health, safety, and environmental excellence, we choose transformation. We choose action. We choose prevention over regret. And we choose to stand with every institution, organisation, and government agency committed to strengthening safety culture at all levels.
“Transformation Through Leadership and Compliance
Meaningful transformation begins with leadership—leadership that prioritises safety not as a checkbox activity, but as a core organisational value. Compliance with safety rules must become a standard practice, not a reactive response to regulatory pressure.
“We must foster workplaces where:
Safety rules are clearly communicated and strictly followed.
Workers feel empowered to speak up without fear.
Training is continuous, practical, and inclusive.
Technology and innovation support early detection and risk prevention.
Management models the behaviours they expect from the workforce.
“This is how organisations move from tragedy to transformation—through responsibility, commitment, and proactive investment in the wellbeing of their people”
Atayero therefore declared that the OSHA Association has the mission of building ” a world where every workplace is safe, every worker is protected, and every employer embrace health and safety as a strategic priority”.
The Country President stressed that the Mission is being advanced by the health association with expanding training and certification programmes across all sectors.
“Strengthening partnerships with Government agencies, private organisations, and international bodies.
” Leading industry campaigns and awareness initiatives to reduce workplace incidents.
Accrediting organisations that meet international safety standards.
“Empowering local chapters to champion safety advocacy at the grassroots level”
He gave the assurance that the OSHA will continue to support organisations with the knowledge, resources, and guidance needed to build robust safety management systems that save lives and enhance productivity.
“Transforming tragedy into meaningful progress requires all of us. Every employer, every safety officer, every policymaker, every engineer, every stakeholder has a role to play.
“Let us therefore move forward with renewed commitment. Let us transform workplaces by embedding safety into every decision, every operation, and every culture. Let us honour the memories of those lost to preventable incidents by ensuring such tragedies never happen again.
” let us challenge ourselves to think differently, act decisively, and collaborate more effectively. The cost of violating safety rules is far too high—but the reward of compliance is immeasurable.
Together, we can build a safer, healthier, and more resilient future for all”.Atayero said.
