Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has granted a three-month amnesty to owners of existing structures built without the required planning permit.
The governor stated that the decision was a move to regularising building development in the state.
The initiative, which runs from November 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026, offers a 50% rebate on the standard penal fees for those who come forward to secure their permits. The amnesty applies to residential, commercial, industrial, and other types of developments.
According to a statement released by the Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL Olatunji Odunlami, *the concession is a year-end gesture to the people of Ogun State. The move is expected to bring a large number of existing buildings into compliance with the state’s urban planning laws.
“Under the regular law, offenders are required to pay a penalty that is double the planning permit fee for commercial and industrial buildings”, the statement said.
