Media for Human Development Foundation (MEHUMD), a non-governmental organization, carried out a community service event specifically targeting the aged. The event held at Iropora community in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, brought together seniors from the local community for a day of fun, games, and medical checkups.
The program featured various engaging activities, including singing, dancing, a “Complete the Proverb” game and storytelling, which sparked lively discussions and laughter among the participants. Additionally, a team of medical professionals provided health education, free health check-ups, including blood pressure and blood glucose level tests, to ensure the seniors’ well-being. Foodstuffs were also distributed to all participants, ensuring they took home essential items to support their wellbeing.
MEHUMD whose vision is to envision a world where every voices and human life is given due recognition without fear or intimation demonstrated this by giving an enabling environment of inclusion for the aged where they were well celebrated and reminded they are an important pillar of the society.
Speaking during the program, the Executive Director of MEHUMD, Miss Ayotomiwa Ayodele stressed the aims of this program being to promote the welfare and dignity of vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly. This outreach program demonstrates our commitment to providing support and care to those who need it most.
“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to celebrate and give back to our elderly community members. We believe that every individual deserves respect, care, and compassion, regardless of age.” said Miss Ayotomiwa Ayodele.
The event was a huge success, with participants expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the organization’s efforts.
The Oniropora of Iropora Community who was represented by Chief Adediwura expressed gratitude and appreciated the organization for prioritizing the welfare of the elderly.
The outreach program is an evidence to MEHUMD’s dedication to promoting the wellbeing of the population, and the organization looks forward to continuing its efforts.
