EKSU Elevates Ekiti Obstetrician, Pius Ade-Ojo to Professor

A renowned Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Ekiti State, Pius Ade-Ojo has been elevated to the rank of Professor at the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU).

His elevation was announced by the Appointment and Promotion Committee of the Institution.

Professor Ade-Ojo, who is a Senior Lecturer at Ekiti State University’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is also a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH).

Ade-Ojo, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Women and Children Development and Health Research Initiative, (WCDHRI), graduated from the University of Ilorin, with M.B.B.S in Medicine and Surgery and Masters in Business Administration at EKSU.

His postgraduate training at National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria earned him a Fellow, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and Fellow, West African College of Surgeons from Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital’s Complex, Ile-Ife.

He served as the Pioneer coordinator and past Acting Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at EKSUTH, past representative of Congregation in the University senate and member, College of Medicine Internal Generated Revenue committee.

The astute administrator held the position of Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Ekiti State Chapter between 2008 and 2010 where he recorded ground-breaking achievements including; the completion of Phase 1 of the Doctors’ Quarters, NMA Secretariat, Ekiti State, laid the foundations for Phase 2, conceptualized NMA Ekiti Bye-Laws, constituted Bye-laws drafting committee, and ensured the adoption of the Bye-laws. He also founded the NMA Cooperative Society.

A passionate reproductive health advocate, Ade-Ojo was a former Chairperson of Planned ParentHood Federation of Nigeria, Volunteers, Ekiti State Chapter and former President of Ado Metropolitan LIONS Club, District 404B2 Nigeria, International LIONS Clubs, Ado- Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Ade-Ojo has published over 60 articles in reputable medical journals and has participated in various research studies.

Recently, he was decorated as a Papal Knight in the Order of Saint Sylvester by Pope Francis, recognizing his service and contributions to the community.
