NYG: Six-year-old Kwara prodigy wins scrabble gold

A six-year-old scrabble player from Kwara State, Abdulsalam Yusuf and his teammate, Olamide Hassan, secured a historic gold for the state in the male doubles event at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, on Thursday.

Yusuf and Hassan achieved the feat against Team Niger, demonstrating Kwara’s outstanding skill, concentration, and teamwork.

The win also makes Yusuf one of the youngest medalists in the history of the National Youth Games, a feat that has earned him widespread admiration.

“I developed an interest in Scrabble because of the logical reasoning and technicality of the game. I am proud to win this medal for Kwara State, and I hope to continue representing the state at both national and international tournaments,” he said.

Yusuf also expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Mogaji, for providing him with the platform to showcase his talent at the games.
