Oyebanji Reiterates Commitment to Women Empowerment in Sports

 

 

The  Ekiti state Governor Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to women empowerment and inclusive governance, particularly in the area of sports.

Governor Oyebanji, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, gave the assurance in Ado-Ekiti while addressing participants at the 2nd Edition of the Women in Sports Leadership Seminar organized by the Nigeria Olympic Committee Women Commission under the auspices of Olympic Solidarity for coaches, sports officers, and technical officials in the Southwest Zone.

Prof. Adubiaro, while expressing her delight at being among women in sports, noted that the Oyebanji-led administration has consistently demonstrated strong support for women across all sectors. She highlighted the Governor’s numerous appointments of women into strategic positions, describing it as a clear testament to his belief in women’s capacity to lead.

She pointed out that women currently hold key positions in Ekiti State, including the offices of the Deputy Governor, the Secretary to the State Government, the Head of Service, the Deputy Speaker, six female lawmakers in the State House of Assembly, as well as several members of the State Executive Council.

In her remarks, the President of NAWOM, Prof. Florence Adeyanju, commended the Ekiti State Government for setting a remarkable example in women’s inclusion. She stressed that it is uncommon to find women occupying top positions in governance, but Ekiti stands out as a state where women are well represented.

Similarly, in her goodwill message, the Special Adviser on Sports, Dr. Oshetoba, applauded Governor Oyebanji for his timely interventions in the Ekiti State Sports Council. She further praised Prof. Adubiaro for her accessibility and commitment, describing her as “a soldier to lean on at all times.”
