The mother of a former member of the House of Representatives and ex-Commissioner for Public Utilities in Ekiti State, Madam Lydia Omobiminu Faparusi, has died.
Mrs Faparusi, died on Tuesday, at her residence in Ode Ekiti, after a brief illness.
She died at the age of 82.
The deceased was the mother of a former member of the National Assembly and ex-Commissioner, Hon Bamidele Faparusi(aka Fappy) and the Ex- State Women Leader of the People’s Democratic Party, Hon. Sade Faparusi-Akinrinmola, popularly called Sade Gbonyin.
The death of their matriarch was announced in a statement jointly signed by Hon Bamidele Faparusi and Hon Sade Akinrinmola, on behalf of the family, and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday.
The statement described the late Mrs Faparusi as a committed mother and strong community leader during her lifetime.
The children remembered with glee and profound sense of nostalgia, the role played by the deceased in giving them a rocky footing in education, morality and discipline.
They prayed for the repose of her soul in the bosom of God Almighty.
The statement said: “With gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Sup. Senior Lady Evangelist Lydia Faparusi.
“She departed this world on the 19th August, 2025, at the age of 82 years. May God rest her soul and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
“Funeral arrangements will be communicated to the public in due course”.
